A farewell afternoon was held by the committees of the Stratford Plunket Society and the Stratford branch of tlie Women’s National Reserve in th? Town Hall this afternoon, in honor of Mrs. E. F. Hollands, who has been an active worker in both organisations and who is leaving Stratford to reside in Palmerston North. Mrs. Cuthbert, president of the Plunket Society and secretary of the Women’s National Reserve, stated that Mrs. Holands had been an exceedingly hard worker in both organisations and would be greatly missed, more particularly from the Plunket Society, of which she had been secretary. Mrs. Hollands was also a valuable member of the school committee and in all three capacities had rendered excellent service behalf of the town. The Mayoress (Mrs. J. W. McMillan) presented Mrs. Hollands with a handbag, as a gift from the members of both organisations. Mrs. Hollands thanked those present for the presentations. She added that all she had done had been a pleasure to her, because she loved the work, and both she and Mr. Hollands were very sorry .to leave the many friends they had made while in Stratford. Musical items were given by Mrs. Dixon, Mrs. C. Moore, Mrs. Hoole, Mrs. Hollands and Mrs. Cuthbert, and the Rev. L. B. Neale, and a recitation by Miss B. Wilson.
