RECORDS AT ’VARSITY SPORTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the ’Varsity tournament to-day the athletic championships were, decided at Lancaster Park before a large attendance. The standard shown in all the events was very high and no fewer j than three records were broken. JSo keen ! was competition that Victoria College j (Wellington) and Otago tied for the champion shield, Auckland being only one point behind, the figures being Otago 13, Victoria College 13, Auckland 12, Canterbury one. Trfccy (Wellington) ran the 220 yards in 22 4,-5 sec, beating the previous record by 4-5 seconds/ Grierson (Auckland) [Tan the 880 yards in 2-3, beating the previous record by 1-5 sec. Jackson (Wellington) ran the 440 hurdles in 60 I-ssec.. beating the record by 1 4-5 sec.
