’VARSITY TOURNAMENT.
A NOISY EXHIBITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the inter-'Varsity tournament debating contest students were present in strong force and if the noisy exhibition is any criterion of their behavior on capping day it is almost certain there will be trouble with the authorities after that function is over. They were In a very merry mood, keeping up a running fire of comment and singing, but the banter was wholly good natured ana witty, never being "over the odds." The contest resulted: Canterbury College (K. Archer and J. North) 1, Otago 2, Victoria College (Wellington) 3. Auckland 4. The finals of the boxing resulted:—Featherweight, Kennedy (Otago) beat Jeune (Canterbury) ; light-weight. Smith (Otago) beat Farquharson (Canterbury) ; welter-weigtt, Church (Otago) beat Conlngham (Wellington) ; middle-weight, Hutchinson (Wellington) bent Tanner (Otago) ; heavy-weight, McKegg (Otago) berft Mcßae (Wellington).
