A cablegram received by the Prime Minister confirms definitely that the butter control will cease completely in Britain on March 31. The Director of Agriculture is in consultation with representatives of the producers and is considering arrangements for dealing with butter after March 31, when the Imperial contract also expiree, and he probably will have sope suggestion to place before the conference in Wellington next week. It has been suggested that the local price of butter will rise when the contract ends owing to the withdrawal of the Government subsidy. Official opinion here is that if the local price is gov-» filmed by the London parity, which tho producers have insisted upon in the past* it cannot rise.
