INGLEWOOD CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Inglewood Football Club was held on Wednesday evening. Mr. J. Sutherland presided over an attendance of over 20 members. The annual report stated that the membership was 36, which was a very poor number for a town the size of Inglewood, and it would be necessary for the incoming committee to canvass for new members, otherwise there would be no improvement on the play of the past season. The club entered two teams; the senior lost the four matches it played and the junior won one match out of seven. There were some good young players in the club, but the trouble was lack of training, and it was to be hoped there would be no reason to complain over this in the coming season. It was a recommendation to the incoming committee to pay half the travelling expenses of the junior teams, as it might Induce young players to join. X Since the decision of the Taranaki Rugby Union to admit the Patea Club into tte union, interest’ in football has been greatly revived in Patea, and the club will put forward a strong senior fifteen for the competitions. A. Spratt, Len Hunt, Laurie Hunt, E. J. Hickey, F. McKenna and F. Crompton, all of whom have played In Taranaki representative teams, will play this season and it may be anticipated that the Patea team will be a strong combination that will render a very good account of itself. During the last few seasons when the Patea Club has been in the Wairoa Sub-Union, some of the best players have lost heart, but now that they have the prospect' of meeting teams of their own strength, they are very keen for the competitions to start. The long distance between Patea and New Plymouth will present some difficulties in the matter of travelling, but the Patea players, for their part, state that they are 'prepared to play all the New Plymouth teams\ at New Plymouth if those teams will undertake to visit Patea at least once in the season.
