GENERAL NOTES. —a / . The Star Football Club held its opening practice yesterday, when about 50 attended at the raeeeoursA and some useful practice was indulged .in, the keenness of the players auguring well for the club’s success this season. A number of new players have thrown in their lot with the club, including Eustace. formerly of Okato. Clubs are reminded that the Referees’ Association urgently require/ recruits to their ranks. Last year it was only through the loyalty of the members tliat the association was able to fulfil all its engagements, and to do this , some of the referees had to take two inatehes a week. This year there will probably be more matches, so that the need for additional referees is the more urgent. Clubs can assist by bringing the matter before the notice of old players and enthusiasts.
