The Daily Chronicle states that ths plebiscite necessitates the Supreme Council partitiioninig Upper Silesia. Roughly, the west and, the north go to Germany, and the south to Poland, while the east is divided, Poland, taking Pleeh, Rybnik and Tamowitz, and Germany taking Kronzberg and districts west of t'he River Oder. Germany will urge that the fate of th© whole province must be regarded as an entity. French delegates on the spot favor the industrial districts on the right of the Oder going to Poland, thus giving Pu* land all the richest parts.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. Paris, March 22. As the result of tne plebiscite, it is believed that Poland secures the great coal 'basin of Rybnik and Pless. Three hostages from each side were held by the Allies during the voting, while 25 French tanks occupied strategic positions.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. GERMANS SUCCESSFUL IN TOWNS. POLES IN RURAL AREAS. Berlin, March 22 Herr von Simons states that there are large German majo>rities in the industrial districts in Silesia. The Polish majorities are mainly confined to rural areas. The Poles also carried Rybnik and Pless, Herr von Simons adds that giving the districts which voted Podiish to Poland would make impossible the continuation of German industry and the payment of the indemnities,
FRENCH PRESS VIEWS. Paris, March 22. The Press is disappointed at the Upper Silesia voting. Action Francaise fears the moral effect on the Huns of the capture of adherents. Le Journal maintains that the Allies must take account of the voting in the southern districts containing mineral wealth, and see that they are liberated from the German yoke. L’Homme Libre says the Allies must not hand over the Silesian wealth to Germany without imposing charges and mortgages.
