The League of Nations has issued the text of Germany’s memorandum protesting against the It alleges that the Allies’ action is contrary to the Treaty of Versailles, because the treaty does not permit the occupation of German territory beyond the district west of the Rhine and the bridgeheads. Even evacuated •territory may only be re-occupied if Germany refuses to observe her obligations in regard to reparations. Moreover, economic measures may only be applied in case of a default in regard to reparations. The partial confiscation of the purchase price of German goods would be in contradiction with the assurances given by Britain and Belgium regarding, the nonconfiscation of the goods- of private people. Germany appeals to the League to cause the Allies to abandon the unwarrantable violation of the Peace Treaty.— Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
