PRICE OF GAS.

INCREASE NEXT MONTH. As announced in** Tuesday’s Daily News the New Plymouth Gas Company has decided to make a further increase in its charges. The advance contemplated amounts to about lOd per 1000 feet, and it is expected this will come into force as from April 1. Increasing costs of coal supplies, it is stated, have induced the company to make the rise. A statement prepared regarding the increase in the cost of coal to the company during 1919 and 1920 shows that for the half-year end' ed December, 1920, the cost had been £B2l 0« 9d, more than in the corresponding half-year of 1019, or an average increase of 14s Ojd per ton. For the half year ended December, 1920, compared with the half year ended June, 1920, the increase had been £491 5s sd, or an average of 8s 5d per ton.
