SWIMMING.
TO-NIGHT’S CARNIVAL. Preparations are now complete for the swimming carnival at the New Plymouth baths to-nighl® and a large amount of extra seating accommodation has been provided. The Misses Shand and Bristed arrived atNew Plymouth by last night's express, and were met by members of the Swimming Club. I They are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Hoonc and Air. and Mrs. C. H. Weston. Numerous entries have been received for all events, and the McHardy and Weston Shield will be competed for by teams from the Central, West End, and Fitzroy Schools. This morning at 9 the visitors meet the school children at the baths, and will be the guests of the Mayoress at morning tea. In the afternoon they will be taken to the mountain by Mr. Andrew Smith. At the carnival on Saturday afternoon Messrs. Enwright and Champion will endeavour to establish a record for 100 yards.
