ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

A FATAL FIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tauranga, March 22. A tragedy occurred in the borough at 3.30 this morning. Neighbors in the vicinity heard two loud detonations and shortly afterwards the cottage occupied by Edward Broadbent was discovered to be in flames. About fifteen minutes after the brigade had arrived the fact of detonations having been heard was mentioned and a search among the burning debris resulted in Che finding of the body of Broadbent practically unrecognisable, with, the limbs burnt off. It is reported that he had been acting queerly lately. Hrs wife and two children left him on Sunday night and were not in the house at the time of the tragedy. An inquest was to be held this afternoon.
