ATHLETIC AND CYCLING UNION. a meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held at Kaponga on Wednesday, March 16. Present: Messrs. A. 0., Casey vice-president), J. A. Hansen (chairman), C. Burke, J. Paterson, D. Malone, H. Nuttall, Hayes, Manley and A. Melville (secretary). ■*» A ’etter was received from the Kakaramea Sports Club re date of their meeting. It was decided that the secretary wire them to adhere to date fixed, April 6. An ai plication from two registered axemen to compete at an unregistered meeting at Tangitu was refused, and they are to be written to explaining the position, and the executive warns all registered competitors who compete at unregistered meetings that they will be disqualified, and anyone who has done so up to the present, not knowing he was iiabie to be disqualified, will Lave ins ease placed before the executive If he sends full information to the secretary before competing at any sports. Fourteen clubs have already registered, and three mure applications were received at this meeting. Mr. C. Burke, of Kaupokonuj, was appointed the official handicapper, and he is to be allowed a fee of £2 2s for clubs who give prize money over £3O, and under that sum £1 Is will be the fee. Secretaries of clubs are asked to give the official every assistance. —Star. * THE RIVERLEA MEETING. Nominations in connection with tV.e Riverlea meeting on March 31 have been extended from Tuesday (yesterday), to Thursday next. Particulars of the events are advertised elsewhere.
