THE DAVIS CUP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, March 21. The New York Times, in a sports editorial, states that Australasia again looms up as a leading contender as the result of the Davis Cup draw. Politeness is agreeable/ but there is no sense in disguising the facts that Australasia, with Brookes, Patterson and Anderson, Hawkes and others in reserve, is practically certain to defeat Canada in the first round, and Britain, the next most formidable contender, in the second round. Australasia, In order to proceed to the final round will merely have to defeat the winner of the Argentine-Denmark match. Brookes and PatWrson will doubtless easily accomplish that. Few observers credit Govern and Laurentz with the possibility of victory against Kumagae and Shimidzu. Thus Australasia would finally be pitted against Japan, with a certain victory for Austra-lasia.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn,
