FOOTBALL.

KAPONGA CLUB. At the annual meeting, the report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. O Hawken, M.P.; president, Mr. D. Malone; vice-presi-dent, Mr. O. Casey; secretary, Mr. D. Fitzgerald ; delegates to P.ugby Union, Messrs. Lynsky and Fearon; management committee, Messrs. Casey, J. Malone, Lyall, Kissick, D. Malone, Fitzgerald, and Fearon; auditor, Mr. Lloyd. Management and selection committee, senior team, Messrs. Casey, Kissick, and the captain; junior and thirds, Messrs J. Malone, Mills, and Captains; club captain, Mr. M. Lynsky. The opening day was fixed for Easter Saturday. Mr. Fearon, delegate to the union, read the report and balance-sleet of the Taranaki Rugby Union, which was considered very satisfactory, also a circular from Mr. J. McLeod in connection with senior football, and after considerable discussion the meeting, approved of the scheme. OKAIAWA CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Okaiawa club last week, the following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. A. Guy (re-elected) ; president, Mr. A. Lees; vi.ee-presidents, Mesprs. A. Fraser, Toro, Houlahan, W. Baker, J. O'Sullivan, G. Betts, N. Crocker; secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. Drake (re-elected) ; general committee, Messrs. Baker, Jno. Johnstone, Fraser, Fahey, Houlahan, Johns, Mortimer, Toro, Walsdorf; delegates to Union, Messrs. Lees and Walsdorf; club captain, Mr. Jno. Johnstone. A circular was received from the Union containing the president’s scheme of inter-club matches for next season. This evoked a considerable amount of discussion, opinion being divided as to its merits. The question of the Normanby Club was discussed. Normanby is in the Okaiawa district, and for the past two seasons had run a team under its own management. As this had not been very satisfactory, it was decided to take over control of the Normanby district during the coming season. —Star.
