ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
TWO CHILDREN DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, March 17. A distressing double drowning accident occurred at Milford, near Temuka. Tw<\ children, Eileen and Patrick Daly, aged 3% and 2, who were under the care of their grandmother, a feeble old lady, were playing at the edge of a lagon and fell in. Effortsto restore animation failed. RAILWAYMEN INJURED. Hamilton, March 17. Three railwaymen were proceeding to work on a jigger this morning in a thick fog 4 and between Hamilton and ITorotiu a train appeared ahead suddenly. George Valliley, the driver of the jigger, with great presence of mind, jumped off and attempted to pull the jigger off the line. Tie was too late, however, to avert a collision, and he and his companions. William Oates and W. White, were injured. They were removed to the hospital and are progressing satisfactorily.
