A SALVAGE CLAIM. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Sydney, March 15. The Union Steamship Company’s salvage claim for services rendered by the Cosmos to the Inca has been amicably settled. WESTRALIAN ELECTIONS. Perth, March 15. The election figures are:—Labor 16, Country Party 15, Nationalists- 8, National Labor 4, Independent 1. NAVAL BUILDING FAILURE. Sydney, March 15. It is suggested in some quarters that go-slow methods at Cockatoo Island dockyards made the cost of naval shipbuilding almost prohibitive. Unofficial estimates show that the cruiser Adelaide has already cost £1,000,000 and owing to the length of time occupied in building she will be out of date when ready for commission. Her sister ships, built in England, were completed long ago for £450,000 each—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
