DEMANDS ON AUSTRIA. * Vienna, March IS. The sudden peremptory demand by the Austrian section of the Reparations Commission for the delivery of milch cows and live stock to Italy Jugo-Sla-via, and Roumania has created amazement and indignation. The Vienna press denounces such action and declares it to be certain to increase the present appalling high rate of infant mortality. Dr. Resch, Minister for Social Affairs, says the fulfilment of the demand is absolutely impossible. Negotiations are proceeding for the indefinite postponement of the clauses qf the treaty providing for the delivery of live stock. —Times Service. RUSSIA AND POLAND. Riga, March 13. The Russian-Polish Peace Conference decided that Poland’s share of Russia’sgold shall be thirty million gold roubles, plus a similar sum in respect of rolling stock remaining in Poland. JAPAN’S ARMAMENT. Tok io, March 13. Two large mass- meetings at Osaka, attended by the business men, adopted a resolution that the Budget gives preponderating importance to armaments, placing an unbearable burden upon the nation, and is contrary to public opinion.
