AUCKLAND V. TARANAKI. VISITORS LOSE FINAL TEST. i The final test match between the visiting Auckland bowlers and Taranaki representatives v. :s played on the Fitzroy green. New Plymouth, yesterday, when Taranaki gained the verdict by a comfortable margin, registering their second win out of the three tests. On the fifteenth head Taranaki were 43 points in the lead, and in the play follow-, ing the position of the teams remained practically on the ''same level. On the twentieth head the totals read 170—120, and at the conclusion of the match (on the twenty-fifth head) Taranaki emerged the winners by 48, the scores reading 204—156. Prior to the dispersal of the teams, the president of the Centre .(Mr. J. D. Sole), on behalf of the Taranaki bowlers, expressed the great pleasure which the visit of the Auckland team had given. Oi the caN of the speaker, three cheers were given for the visiting team. 1 SI Replying, Mr. Coultman (manager) assured Taranaki bowlers that the Auckland team had had a delightful time during the trip. The speaker said his team were lucks* in winning the first test at Hawera, and the honors of the three games had gone to the Taranaki team, who really deserved it. They had beaten Auckland on the keen greens, and their play had also been of a high standard generally. The matches had been played in a fine spirit, and, Mr. Coultman said, they never wished to meet better sports than the Taranaki bowlers. On any future trip there would alwaj’s be keen rivalry among members of the Auckland Club as co who was to get away in the team for Taranaki. Cheers were given for the Taranaki bowlers and the ladies. The visitors returned to Auckland by last night’s boat.
