METAL MARKETS. London, March 10. Copper.—Spot £65 8s 9d; three months £66 7s 60. Lead.—£l9 and £l9 10s. Spelter.—-£26 and £26 ss. Tin.—£l49 15s and £153 ss. Silver.—-31 5-8 d per ounce. IRON AND STEEL TRADE. London, March 11. The Scottish iron and steel manufacturers report that this week’s business has been the worst on record. Continental quotations are much, below home prices and there is no alternative to closing down unless wages and the cost of raw material are immediately greatly reduced. LONDON SHARE MARKET. London, March 11. The reduction of the Treasury Bill rate has given the Stock Exchange a cheerful tone, and quotations are firmer all round. Mount Lyell.—Buyers 11s 6d; sellers 12s 4d. Waihi. —Buyers 23s 9d; sellers 26i 3d, ex div. P. aud O.—Buyers £305; sellers £325, * LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 9th inst. Tallow: There Is a small demand; sale by auction has been suspended. Cheese; Quieter demand; prices unchanged. WEEKLY REPORT. The Farmers Co-op. Society report for the week ending March 12, as follows At Okaiawa on Monday we held our usual fortnigbtiy sale. There was a small yarding. Best cows realised to £5, Jersey weaner he-’fe.s £5. On Tuesday, at Tikorangi, we held our annual sheep fair, a good class of sheep.were yarded, but owing to the reduction in the prices of fat stock, vendors were prepared to accept the market value. We quote: Best 2-tooth ewes £1 is, others 16s, 2-to.oth wethers 14s, f.f.nx. ewes 10s 6d and 12s, lambs S.s to 10s. At Hawera, on Wednesday, there was a gpod yarding of sheep, but cattle ‘ did not come forward in any numbers. Best lambs 12s 9d fat ewes 11s, cull ewes Gs to 7s 6d . At Hawera, on Thursday, sheep and cattle were yarded in large numbers. Practically all the sheep were sold at lhe hammer. We quote: 2-tooth ewes 16s, f.f.m. ewes 10s 6d to 12s 6d, cull 2-tooth wethers 10s 6d, iambs 13s Gd to £1 Is, store ditto _Bs to 10s, There was very little demand for cattle except for best Jersey weaners,. which brought up to £4 10s, according to quality and size. On Friday, at Waverley, there was a good yarding of sheep which were all sold by auction. Vendors were prepared to meet the market and sold at the following rates: Mixed 2-tooth ewes 12s 9d, f.m. wethers 13s, 4 and 6tootb ewes 11s, f.f.m. ewes 8s 6d to 10s Rd, culls ditto 2s 6d to 4s. Mrs. Newton King, Ltd., • have received a cable from their principals, Messrs. R. and W. Davidson, Ltd., as follows: —"Cheese market steady. Colored £8 Is, £8 2s; white £7 6s, £7 75."
