QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT.
BY TARANAKI MEMBERS. SUPERANNUATION FOP. NURSES. Notice has been given in the House of Representatives of the following questions:— Mr. S G. Smith (Taranaki) to ask the Minister of Health whether he can give any information as to when it is proposed to bring down tboi nft-promised superannuation scheme for nurses of public hospitals? RAILWAY TARIFF. Mr. S. G. Smith (Taranaki) to ask the Minister of Railways, whether a new issue of the railway tariff is now in course of preparation; and, if so, can he give an approximate date when such revised tariff will be brought into operation ? GRANTS TO SCHOOLS., Mr. R. Masters (Stratford) to ask the Prime Minister what are the reasons why he withholds from Parliament and the people of the Dominion the specific information sought to be obtained by the member for Stratford in the return asked for in the following motion, which he would not agtee to being moved or granted last session: “That there be laid before this House a return showing the number of primary schools Tor which grants of £15,000 and over have been made during the last two years up to August 10. 1920; such returns- to show (a) the name of and in what district the school was or is to be erected; (b) in respect to what schools central halls have been approved, and (c) in respect to what schools assembly halls have been approved”? (Note. —Such a return would disclose to the people whether the financial grants or other assistance authorised have been fair arid equitable, having regard to the merits of all applications made for grants coming under similar heads). MOUNT EGMGNT METAL. Mr. R. Masters (Stratford) to ask tiie Minister of Public Works whether, in view of the fact that in reply to the Minister’s request' when visiting Taranaki asking for a statement of the amount of metal that would be required by the local bodies if the, Mount Egmont quarries were re-opened, a reply has been received to the effect that their requirements will total 100,000 cubic yards- per annum: and, as the engineers of the Public Works Department in estimating the maximum quantitrtat 60,000 cubic yards per annum that would be required to secure a minimum price, whether he will assist the local bodies concerned by expediting the opening of the quarries so that metal may be available next season?
