HOURS FOR SHOPS.
SIX O’CLOCK CLOSING. ' LAW TO BE REPEALED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to representations of various shop-keepers’ associations asking for the repeal of the legislation compelling shops to close at 6 p.m., Mr. Massey said he would have objected to the measure had he been present when it was before the labor bills committee last year, but lie was ill at the time. He had given notice to introduce a Bill repealing the*’clause, but it would depend on the reception the Bill received Whether it would reach the Statute Book. If there was organised opposition—he was informed the Labol* Party proposed to oppose it—it had little chance of passing this session.
