EDUCATION AT ELTHAM.

PROPOSED HIGH SCHOOL. The question of the proposed establishment of a district high school at Eltham was before the Taranaki Education Board at yesterday’s meeting, whe* members discussed a telegram received from Mr. I. J. Bridger, of Eltham, which alleged that the board had very little sympathy towards the application for the school. Mr. A. Lees said he did not like the attitude which the Eltham committee was taking up, as it seemed a good deal of reflection was being cast on the board. The telegram charged the board with not being in sympathy with the movement, whereas they had never really considered the proposal, and were awaiting further information, as there were certain details necessary to comply with the Act in such cases. The chairman quoted the regulations, which stated that in the case of the proposed establishment *of a district high I school there must be not lees than twenty prospective pupils and that a guarantee in writing must be obtained from the parents stating they will send their children if such a school is established.
