HOURS FOR SHOPS.
PROTEST AT CURTAILMENT. NEW LEGISLATION PROMISED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Representatives of the small shopkeepers waited upon the Minister of Labor to bring under his notice the effect of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1920. Prior to the passing of the amendment small shopkeepers, except in certain trades, were at liberty to keep their shops open after G p.m., provided assistants were not employed. The Minister pointed out that when the Bill was before the House no representations on the matter were made by those now complaining. Similar representations had been placed before the Prime Minister and himself at Auckland. An opportunity to reconsider the 1 question would be given, and a Bill I would be introduced next session. If I opposed it would be brought up again
