Tl:e International Fur Exchange auction at St. Louis disposed of 686,562 pounds of Australian and New Zealand rabbit skins, which brought high prices; Australian 162 cents and New Zealand 166; also 2506 Australian hare skins which sold-for 50 per cent, below May prices. FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand Ltd., market report, for week ending 26th February, 1921: On Tuesday at Mangamingi we conducted our Sheep Fair in Mr. Hardwick-Smith’s yards. The entry comprised some 4,000 ewes, lambs and wethers. Prices were hardly up to our previous sale, but in tie most of cases vendors were prepared to sell and altogether about 3,500 sheep found fresh owners. Quotations Rape lambs to 15s, medium 10s to 12s, others 6s to Bs, four-year ewes to 15s, younger ewes 18s to 20s, wethers to 20s. At Eltham on Wednesday there was a small entry. The sale was dull and dragging and prices were below late rates. On Thursday at Hawera we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle. Although bidding was dull the majority of the sheep changed hands. Exporters were only operating at low money, but vendors were prepared to meet the market consequently in the cattle section in the most of cases we were able to do business. Quotations: —Four-year ewes 14s to 15s 3d, store lambs Ils 6d to 12s, others 6s to 9s, bulls £3 to £7, best cows to £7 10s, others £3 to £6, 2% and 3%-year steers to £p 15s, Jersey weaner heifers, good £4 Ils, others to £2 15s, mixed breeds to 30s, steers to £os. At Waverley on Friday we had a good entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. There was a good enquiry for ewes, but on other sheep bidding was not brisk. The following are some of the sales, 50 f.m. ewes 16s Bd, 80 4 and 6-tooth ewes 20s 7d, 100 two-tooth ewes 18s, 500 small 13s 2d, 95 4-tooth ewes 20s 6d, 143 mixed aged ewes 18s Id, 233 wethers at 14s 3d, 74 wethers 18s 6d, 41 2-tooth ewes 13s 7d, b.f. rams 7 gns. to 3 gas., fat cows £6 17s 6d, 18-month heifers to £3 10s, weaner steers to 245, dairy cows to £lO 6s, store cows £2 to £3 10s. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Coy. Ltd., Hawera Branch, report for week ending 26th February, 1921: At Opunake on Monday we had a small entry. We quote:—Lambs (good) 13s, cull lambs 6s 3d, empty heifers £3 10s, weaner ditto 30s. At Manaia on Tuesday—prices at late rates. On Friday we held our Hawera Sheep Fair when we yarded over 3000 mixed sheep, and tie majority were sold before leaving the yards at the following rates: — 4 and 6-tooth wethers 16s 9d, 2-tooth ditto 13s, 4 and 5-year ewes 13s, f.m. ditto 8s Id to 10s Bd, culls to ss, lambs to 10s, culls 4s 2d to 5s 6d. On the same day at Palmer Road we held our Weaner Fair, also our fortnightly sale, and the yards were considerably over-crowded with both cattle and lambs. For the former bidding was very brisk for good qualities, particularly Jerseys, and for inferior sorts, most of the vendors were prepared to meet the market, and the bulk of the entry was sold under the hammer. We quote:—Fat cows to £B, forward ditto £3 5s to £4 10s, others £1 10s to £2 10s, Jersey weaner heifers £3 5s to £5 6s, others 17s 6d to £2, steers £1 10s to £2 4s, shorn lambs 10s 6d, store pigs 16s to 20s, small ditto 12s.
