ATHLETICS.

URENUI SPORTS TO-DAY. During the past few days the Urenui Sports Committee have been busily engaged in getting the recreation ground in readiness for the sports meeting to-day. Over seventy poplar blocks were procured for the chopping events and carried across the swing brilge, which enables visitors to attain access to the ground, and keen interest is being evinced in this- department of the gathering. The splendid entries which have been secured for the various events should ensure good contests, and in all probability a record attendance will have to be reported. Excellent orchestral music has been engaged for the ball in the evening, and patrons should have nothing to complain of in this and other respects.
