Sydney, Feb. 21. Sydney is threatened with a serious milk shortage. The distributing companies to-day received only 2000 gallons instead of th'e usual 42,000 gallons. The Attorney-General announced that if dairymen deliberately withheld milk supplies they would be liable to prosecution under the Profiteering Act. The Milk Employees’ Union passed the resolution that if country farms refuse to send supplies to the city the Government will be requested immediately to commandeer the dairies, and the Union will find the necessary labor to milk the cows and distribute the milk. The Lord Mayor indicated a scheme by which the milk supply of Sydney could be municipalised. He stated that the Minister of Health approves of the idea, and the City Council would push on with it as rapidly as possible.
