VALUE OF PRODUCE EXPORTS. £853,904 SINCE JANUARY I. The value of shipments of primary produce from North Taranaki since .January 1 up till the present totals £853,904, numerous consignments having been made by the meat companies—the Taranaki Farmers, and Messrs. Borthwick and Co.—and by the dairy companies, through the Taranaki Producers’ Company at Moturoa. Of the total, meat exports account for £147,631, and the remainder is made up of butter and cheese shipments. There were three consignments of meat and dairy produce by direct vessels—the Wangaratta, the Kumara, and the Zealandic—their cargoes amounting to £365,000. Butter and cheese for transhipment at Wellington to various overseas ships has been taken by coastal vessels, and this represents a large proportion of the export trade, the produce sent through this channel amounting in value to £488.904, made up of 52,000 boxes of butter and 15,613 crates of cheese. The total dairy produce exported by the Taranaki Producers’ Company to date this year is: Butter 74,981 boxes, cheese 22,674 crates, all being new season’s output.
