A.S.R.S. CONFERENCE. NEW OFFICERS APPOINTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a conference of ‘the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants to-day, Mr. W. Sullivan, of the Hillside workshop, was elected president in succession to Mr. R. Hampton, who has retired. The following were elected to constitute the executive council for the next two vears: North Island, Messrs. F. J. Glasgow (Auckland), F. I. Carr (Rangataua), J. McDougall (Petone), J. Cameron (Wanganui); South Island, Messrs Elliott (Lyttelton), and Duncan (Dunedin), Q. Stokes M. Connelly (Greymouth). Mr. Charles E. W. Wheeler was re-appointed editor of the Railway Review. The 'conference passed the following motion: “'That this conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants disapprove!? of the utterances of the Chancellor of the University (Sir Robert Stout) in connection with the appointment of the Rev. J. W. K. Archer. who, as tutor to the Workers' Educational Association, taught, among other philosophies, the Martian theories.”
