TURF TOPICS. 1 (By "Moturoa.”) The Woodville Racing Club : s autumn meeting will be held at Woodville to-day and tomerrow. As the result of the recent fine weather the course should be very fast, and judging by the excellent acceptances received for the first day, fields should be large, and racing well up to the standard. Proceedings open at 11.30, a.m. with tte Pack Hurdles, one mile and three-quarters, for which Vigllo and Signysian are fancied by their party. Hautawa is engaged, but will probably be better suited by the shorter race on the second day. A splendid field will contest the Sapling Stakes, and will Include smart youngsters like Backsheesh, Tommy Rot, and Toa Taua. The Ruahine Handicap (open) will see Early Dawn, Bonny Briar and Lady General in action. Strategy and Sir Fanciful will be well supported if saddled up for the Whaaiti Handicap. The Woodville Cup has filled well, and the likely runners include forward horses like Maioha, Punka and Ralland. Yankee Dan and Kildee are well placed in the County Handicap. The President’s Handicap contains a fairly even lot, of which Matatua and Namur are likely to be well supported. To-day’s programme concludes with the Victoria Handicap, for which Passenger is likely to start a warm order.
