THE PREMIER’S TOUR.
BUSY-'DAY IN CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioh. Christchurch, Last Night. Mr. Massey had an extr.mely busy time to-day in visiting different parts of North Canterbury. Nearly 150 miles were covered on the tour, and at every township and settlement there were demonstrations of appreciation. Short addresses were delivered by Mr. Massey at several places, but he broke no new ground. He leaves for the West Coast by special train to-morrow. THE VISIT TO WESTPORT. Westport, Last Night. At a public meeting, presided over by the Mayor (Mr. Menzies), to-night, it was resolved to urge Mr. Massey to extend his stay at Westport, in view of the Government’s legislation last session taking over the Westport Harbor Board in April. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and made preliminary arrangements for giving the Prime Minister a very cordial reception, and the hope was expressed that he would spare sufficient time for a run round all the district.
