DANNEVIRKE COMPETITIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Dannevirke, Feb. 15. The Dannevirke Brass Band B Grade Contest under the auspices of the North Island Brass Bands’ Association, commenced to-day. The visiting bands, seven in number, were accorded a civic welcome, by the Mayor. Solo results to date.—E Flat Bass, T. Barton (Marton), 94 points, 1; E. Prout (Masterton), 91 points, 2; A. Loane (Dannevirke), 90 points, 3. Twelve entries. BB Flat.—H. Booker (Palmerston N.), 92 points; H. Rowe (Auckland Coast Defence), 88 points, 2. Thirteen entries. The military display and quick-step competition will take place to-morrow.
