MINISTER OF LANDS.
VISIT TO WATTOMO ELECTORATE. AT WAITARA TO-NIGHT. The Minister of Lands (the Hon. D. H. Guthrie) arrives at Waitara tonight, and visits various parts of the Waitomo electorate this week. Tonight Sir. Guthrie will meet a number of deputations from local bodies. To-morrow the Minister, accompanied by the member for the district (Mr. W. T. Jennings), and the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. G. H. Bullard), leaves Waitara en route to Urenui, Uruti, Tongaporutu, Okau and Mokau. At Mokau the party will journey up the river by launch to inspect the soldiers’ settlement, and the Manga-Awa-kino block of land. The party returns to Mokau, and goes on to Awakino, where the night will be’ spent. On Friday a trip will be made on horseback to the Mahoenui soldiers’ settlement, later proceeding on to Pio Pio and Te Kuiti, meeting deputations at both places. The Minister expects to join the main trunk express that night for Wellington.
