THE SEAMEN'S DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. No further move has yet been made by the seamen in connection with the failure of yesterday’s conference to agree to the amount of the cost of living bonus. The position is being considered by the executive of the Seamen’s Federation Mr. Young, general secretary of the Seamen’s Union, stated today that there were no further developments to report. The men were recently offered ten shillings per month, but do not regard it as adequate. A STRIKE SETTLED. Wellington, Last Night. The trouble which arose at the patent slip a fortnight ago regarding the payment of ‘‘dirt money” has been settled. The boiler-makers are to return to work to-morrow morning and make a subsequent application to the Arbitration Court for an interpretation of the clause in dispute. LIFE-SAVING COMPETITION. Dunedin, Feb. 9. The competition of the Royal LifeSaving Society for the Wigram Shield was held in the municipal baths. The result was: Wellington 127 i points, Wanganui 126, Canterbury 123|. Auckland and Otago did not compete, only Wellington, Wanganui and Canterbury coming forward. The previous holders of the shield were Canterbury 1912 and 1913, Wellington 1914, Auckland 1920.
