RECEPTION OF IMMIGRANTS.
PRESBYTERIAN ACTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 9. The Wellington Presbytery discussed at length the question of the reception of immigrants. It was stated that the Church of England and the Salvation Army were taking great care of their people and other churches were also interesting themselves. The Rev. Mr. Shirer said the matter had been under consideration since last July, and the Minister was interviewed. The Presbytery was conferring with the Church of England and the Methodists. Eventually a resolution was carried that a committee be appointed to make arrangements for receiving Presbyterian immigrants, and that it again interview the proper authorities, insisting on equal rights with other denominations in offering access to their people.
