ENGLAND v. VICTORIA. THIRD DAY’S PLAY. VISITORS MAKE 488. -1 By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received Feb. 7, 8.30 p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 7. Delightful weather and a perfect wicket marked the third day of the cricket match, England v. Victoria. The attendance was again small. The overnight score was Victoria 268 and England 445 for five wickets. Hendren (262 not out) and Douglas (112 not out) resumed to the bowling of Macdonald and Ryder. Hendren scored a single, and then gave a chance in slips when 265, but he was again missed. When his score stood at 271 he was dismissed by a beautiful catch by Park in slips, off Macdonald. Wilson was out first ball. Dolphin opened by hitting two to leg, and he was then clean-bowled by Macdonald, whose average at this time read: 6 wickets for 132. Parkin followed. Douglas played for a strike. Parkin scored four, bringing 498 up frfan the board. Grimmett replaced got Parkin leg before. Hitch was absent, and Parkin’s dismissal closed the innings, whereupon Douglas was accorded a great ovation. On resuming, Hobbs and Douglas opened the bowling for England, Mayne and Sandford being the opposing batsmen. Sandford gave a dashing display. Woolley soon replaced Hobbs, and Fender came on in place of Douglas. This change Sandford welcomed, and he hit Fender over the fence, and then hit two succeeding shots to the boundary. In Woolley’s next over he hit ten off three balls. Parkin was then tried, and in his first 'over dlean-bowled Sandford, whose 72 was made in dashing style. Ryder followed Sandford, and exercised discretion in running between the wickets. Mayne drove Woolley to the boundary for a well-played four, and just as he appeared to be getting set he was bowled by Parkin, when he had reached 33. The board now showed 2 wickets for 108.
Park received an ovation, but he gave a poor display. He mishit Woolley to leg, and was caught by Fender—3/111 Ryder was then joined by the Essendon colt Davies, who gave such a good display in the first innings. Davies soon hit up twenty, mostly by fine cuts, but he was neatly held by Hobbs, off Wilson, ending a useful partnership —4 for 171. Ponsford began slowly Ryder reached 51 by an off drive in 115 minutes, and 200 was reached in 196 minutes. Ponsford was then stumped by Dolphin, qfl Fender, just before time—s for 216. Ryder and Keating played out time. The attendance was 5793, and the gate £287. Following are the scores: ENGLAND.

—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. TEAM FROM' AUSTRALIA. ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Australian cricketers, arrived by the Manuka from Sydney to-day. They were met at the wharf by Mr. T. C. Raphael (chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council) and members of the local association, and a civic reception has been arranged to take place in the Town Hall to-morrow. The Australian Club has notified the Click - et Association of the desire of its members to assist in entertaining the visitors while in Wellington. T. Howard is manager and Vernon Ransford captain.
