QUESTION OF NEW GOVERNOR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—CopyrightNew York, Feb. 3. The Sun’s Halifax correspondent says that Canada is agitate*d in attempting to infer who will succeed the Duke of Devonshire as Governor-General. Lord Burnham’s appointment is discounted as a Northcliffe prank. There .has been some talk that a Canadian should be made Governor, and Sir Robert Borden’s name has been mentioned, but the Do-, minion, with the exception of a small Radical section of the population, prefers an outstanding figure from Britain, thus keeping the tie between Canada, and the Old Country strong. Sir Robert Borden became an' Imperial statesman during the war, but is too much interested in politics to permit him to become an acceptable Governor.
