TOTALISATOR TAX.

LEVY ON TARANAKI CLUB. PAYMENT OF £3227. The amount accruing to the Government by way of taxes from the Taranaki ’Jockey Club's autumn meeting totals £3227 9s 9d. This is exclusive of the amusement tax, which will mean another thirty or forty pounds. The amount is made up as follows: Government and dividend tax on totalisator, £3140 6s; stakes tax, £55 Is; gates £3l 18s 9d. On the results of the Christmas meeting the club was taxed to the amount of £3982 15s 9d, so that on the two fixtures the Government will receive £7123 Is, all practically within a month. Amusement tax, which should amount to £lOO for the two gatherings, is not included in the above.
