EVERYBODY’S. “HOOP LA” AND “THE WONDERFUL ADVENTURE.” A big double feature programme is showing at Everybody’s for the last time to-night, consisting of “The Wonderful Adventure,” a Fox special feature starring popular William Farnum, and “Hoop La” with Billie Rhodes in the lead. The freaks, the bearded lady, the skeleton man, the bareback riders, the trapeze artists, all are there in “Hoop La,” a story of the circus, with all the glamor of the big riding in every scene. That dainty little bit of femininity, Billie Rhodes is in the title* role, and does a lot ,f hard work with apparent ease, being wonderfully versatile In her exacting role of equestrienne, trapezist, dancer and clown, and finally society belle. The picture is one that should delight every one, young and old. There will be a complete change to-morrow when Madge Kennedy will star in the Goldwyn comedy-feature “Leave it to Susan.”
T|IE EMPIRE. FINAL SCREENING TO-NIGHT. “BLIND HUSBANDS.” Erie von Stroheim’s second picture wonder, “Blind Husbands,” was screened to a crowded house at the Empire last night. It is a love story as appealing as the most beautiful romance in your memory—an adventure picture as gripping as any serial thriller—a scenic marvel as wondrous as the most inspiring travel picture you’ve ever known. Whose people are real flesh-and-blood—-whose faithful details are an eye-and-inind delight—whose story holds your heart a helpless prisoner till the last tremendous* moment comes and a glorious surprise sends you away in a glow of happiness. Staged amidst enthralling Alpine scenery, this drama of/two men and a neglected wife rises to neights of emotion as towering as the mighty peaks which are the silent witnesses of the great disaster—and surprise—at the end. The box plans are at Collier’s for the final screening to-night. \ THE PEOPLE’S. “FLOSS,” THE CANINE MARVEL/ The new picture bill to-night at the People’s is headed by the famous French beauty, Raby de R'emer, in “His Temporary Wife.” a laughable romance of two young and very rich people. The bill includes “Elmo the Fearless,” and latest Gazettes, and “Floss,” the wonderful mascot, will again delight patrons to this theatre. SPECIAL CHILDREN'S TREAT A special treat for the kiddies has been arranged for Friday evening at 7.30, when several extra children’s films—comedies, etc.—will be screened, and “Floss,” by special re-engagement, will perform for the last time in New Plymouth prior to her departure for America. All children will be admitted for the sum of sixpence, and it is anticipated that large numbers will avail themselves of this opportunity to see the dog with the human mind. “Floss” leaves New Plymouth on Saturday ■ morning.
