TWENTY-NINTH LINER.

ARRIVAL GF THE KUMARA. VESSEL TO LOAD PRODUCE The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's liner Kumara arrived off New Plymouth direct from Newcastle At 8.30 a.m. yesterday. She is the twenty-ninth liner to visit the port. The ship was granted pratigne by the port health officer (Dr. Wade), and the harbormaster (Captain Waller) brought her in about 1.40 p.m., berthing being completed at 2.30 jyn. The Kumara was drawing 23ft of water aft and 15ft 2in for'ard when she entered port. The Kumara encountered fair weather on the trip from Newcastle, with head winds prevailing? The steaming time between Newcastle and New* Plymouth was 4 days, 22 hours. The vessel’ did not sight the steamer Mandy Lodge, which left Newcastle before the Kumara with coal for New Plymouth. The Kumara had spent ‘.*l days in various ports on the Australian j coast, and while there took in 15,000 bales of wool for tile Home market. At New Plymouth the Kumara will load meat and dairy produce, and will probably make a stay of about a week. Meat to be lifted from the Taranaki Farmers’ Smart Road freezing works comprises 5000 freight carcases of “free*’ beef and 1900 freight carcases of Imperial purchase. A quantity will alsp be railed in from the Waitara works of Messrs. Borthwick and Co. The dairy produce allotment for the vessel is 7000 crates of cheese and 20,000 boxes of butter, from, the Taranaki Producers* stores at Moturoa. Captain Kelly, who is in command of the Kjimara, has made previous visits to the port, the last occasion being at the latter end of 1920. Officers associated with him are: Chief, Mr. A. Hyde; second, Mr. T. Tolmer; third, Mr. J. Hing; chief engineer, Mr. 8. Bewer; second, Mr. McAdam: third, Mr. Pasking: fourth, Mr. M. Dickie; fifth, Mr. V. Brown. The refrigerating engineers are: Chief, Mr? J. Taylor; and assistant, Mr. Hopkins. Messrs. L. Barnitt and J. Kirk arc the wireless operators. From New r Plymouth the Kumara proceeds to Wanganui and Wellington, en route to London.
