COAL FROM NEWCASTLE
TWO VESSELS DUE HERE. The steamer Mandy Lodge, which loaded a cargo of 3500 tons of coal at Newcastle for the New Zealand Jlaili way Department, was due at New Ply- [ mouth yesterday, but up till dusk last ' evening" had not put in an appearance. The vessel’s arrival is expected to-day. The Mandy Lodge, which is a steamer of 2680 tons, is in command of Captain Prideaux, and after discharging at New Plymouth it is probable she will return to Newcastle. Another cargo of Australian coal for the Railway Department will be landed at New Plymouth from the schooner Ija Mercedes, which left Newcastle yesterday and is due to arrive next week. This "is a large type of sailing vessel, her drauglit being about 24fi. She is fitted with small auxiliary power. It is understood the cargo totals about 2500 tons.
