TURKS AND GREEKS.

A FORCE SURRENDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Athens, Jan. 29. A communique from Smyrna confirms the statement that Edhern Bey’s force of 2000 has surrendered to the Greeks. Nearly half the officers and men entered the Greek lines just when Turkish propagandist stories of Nationalist victories were gaining credence. It is supposed Edhern unkindly selected the moment for surrender in order to inflict the most serious damage on Nationalist prestige In the opinion of British observers the reports of Nationalist military strength are mere bluff. —Aus.-N.Z.
