EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION.
LOCAL BODIES AS MEMBERS. A deputation from the Taranaki Employeis’ Association waited on the New Plymouth Borough Council last night, urging that the Council should become a member of the association. The delegates were Messrs. P. E. Stain-ton, C. E. Baker and C. 11. Wynyard. Mr. Stainton said the association aimed to represent all employers of labor, and desired that borough and county councils should also join. Mr. Wynyard said that the organisation provided by the association could be of considerable benefit to the council. The council was a member of the assocation up till June of last year. The Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) remarked that the employees were also the council’s constituents, and the council represented them in addition to the employers. In such circumstances it was doubtful whether the council was not taking sides in joining the association. When the matter was considered by the council at a later stage, a motion was carried in favor of joining the association.
