POSITION AT STRATFORD. Our Stratford correspondent writes: “The statement made by Mr. Cummings at a meeting of the Hawera Saturday Half-holiday Association on Thursday, to the effect that the Saturday halfholiday comes into force on February 4, is objected to by Stratford retailers, who point out that in the absence ot any official notification of the matter it is hardly fair to make such a remark As far as Is known at the present time, the change from Thursday to Saturday cannot take place until the first week in March, or at any rate, until after the change has been gazetted.” NORMANBY FIXES WEDNESDAY. At a meeting of the Normanby Town Board on Friday, Cr. Preston moved and it was seconded by Cr. Forbes, that Wednesday be the day on which the statutory half-holiday be held. Cr.
