A statement was made at the Bakers’ Conference that various factories were refusing to sell butter in bulk at the price gazetted by the Government. Those in the trade felt that they were considerably handicapped, as practically their only source of butter supply was the factories. Farmers’ butter was rarely procurable. Exception was taken to the suggestion made by the Minister for Agriculture in recent correspondence that bakers and pastrycooks used butter of a lower grade than that supplied to the general public.
