TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

THE MONTHLY MEETING. The-ordinary meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday and Thursday. Presentj Meaars. G. H. Bullard (chairman), J_ Heslop, N. R. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. Mr. C. Ryan was granted leave of absence. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. The following application? for land were approved:—Robert Thompson, sec. 9, block 1. Pahi; James Walsh, see. 8, block 1, Pahi; Hori McGregor and Ernest Clarke, &ec. IS., Kohura Settlement; Francis George Yeates, sec. 215., Huatoki Settlement; Eric Albert Relph, sec. 119, block XII., Cape; Kenneth Alexander Summerhays, sec. 28., Marco Settlement; W. D. McMillan, sec. 2, block V., Tangitu. The application of R. P. Shale for sec. 119, block XIL, Cape, was refused, as application for same had been made by a landless soldier. ' The application of S. A. R. Mair for sec. 2, block m. Tangitu, was deferred for enquiry as to whether the section is suitable for travelling stock. The application of W. H. Foreman for a small portion of Crown lands adjoining his section in block 1., Mimi, was deferred for ranger’s report. W. D. McMillan was granted lease of sec. 2, block V., Tangitu, at an annual rental of ss. It was resolved to defer the application of the Taranaki Education Board for part section 10, block XIV., Aria Survey District, until need arises for school, the proposal to be recorded. It was resolved to recommend part sec. 3, block X.. Waro, being granted to H. J Wilkinson. ACQUIRING THE FREEHOLD. The following applications to acquire freehold were granted: —A. G. Cooper, sec. 19, block XI., Mapara; A. A Boswell, sec. 7, block lIL. Mapara; A. L Humphries, sections 3 and 4, block VII., Cape; R. Palmer, see. 47, block XI., Ngaire; F. Hanright, sec. 10, block XII., Mapara; B. McManus, sec. 4, block XII., Mapara. Nine applications to mortgage were approved. TRANSFERS. The undermentioned transfftjs were approved:—Secs. 21 and 27, Ngatikahumate block, B. F. Bowman to C. T. Griffiths; section 541, New Plymouth, E. Snowball to S. F. Pipe; secs. 392 and 418, New Plymouth, T. A. Berridge to W. F. Roebuck; lot 6, Sec. U., New Plymouth, R. R. Bird to E. Patterson; sec. 5, block 1, Taurakawa, W. Nash to E. and R. J. Ure; sec. 6, block XVI., Ngatimaru, W. R. and E. A. Bonnor to A. Coyne; sec. 517. New Plymouth, W F. McAllum to W. Barry; sec. 517,-New Plymouth, W. Barry to J. C. B. Walsh; aec. 57, block X., Kaupokonui, executors of C. Morris to G. D. and L. B. Pareons. Applications as under were dealt with and referred for consideration to the Minister:. —Sec. 9. block VII., Mapara, D. Wallace and P. Hutchinson to D. Wallace; sections 11. 12, 13, block IX., Kapara, B. Higgins to J. Byers and J. Amos; secs. 2, block 1. Piopiotea West, A. W. Cameron to A. W. and G. P Cameron; sec. 28, block 1., Tangitu, W. Barlow to L. R. Ford. GENERAL. It was resolved to allot sec. 2, block TH., Rangi, to L. Brown. The report of F. P. Corkill, valuer, was received on education lease of sec. 198, town of New Plymouth. The application of the Auckland Education Board for sections 8 and 9, Aratcro township, as a site for a teacher’s residence, was deferred for a ranger’s report. The ranger’s report and valuation of sections in Aratoto township was left in the hands of the chairman for action. An application from J. W. Hayden re transfer of drainage rights on education lease 102 was approved. R. J. Harrison was granted authority to erect a dwelling house on section 19, Hawera extension No. 5. The lessee of section 2 block VIII., Mimi, was authorised to gran> drainage rights to the Okau Dairy Company, Ltd. A report from the ranger regarding offering of section 4. block X, Waro, ■was dealt with? and the price assessed. An application for remission of rent by the lessee of sec. 9, block XI., Tangitu. was refused. It was resolved to recommend a remission of rent to lessees of see. 5, block IV., Pouatu. It was resolved to substitute as dates for Land Board meetings in February and March next the 16th in each case instead of the 23rd of the month.
