UNIVERSITY SENATE.
CONCLUSION OF SITTING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Wellington, Jan. 27. At this morning’s sitting of the University Senate, Professor Hunter moved that the questions of the distribution of the national endowment grant that have been circulated to the Senate be considered. The mover said the main matter was the W.E.A., and. out of the whole page of questions there was not one but did not refer to the W.E.A. He did not consider “it desirable or judicial to confine all questions to one Jjranch of the objects on which the fund was expended. Professor Macmillan Brown said it 'was the spirit of benevolency and kindliness towards ijie W.E.A. that had prompted the question. The Senate did not vote on the matter, which was dropped. Accordingly a motion was passed expressing the Senate’s appreciation of the conspicuous services rendered to the New Zealand University by Mr. H. von Haast, chairman of committee, and Professor Hunter, members of that committee. The Senate has concluded its sittings.
