DAIRY PRODUCE

SHIPMENT WORTH £lOO,OOO. BIG QUANTITY BEING LOADED. A considerable quantity of Taranaki dairy produce for transhipment at Wellington to overseas steamers is now being loaded at New Plymouth by the Corinna. The consignment consists of 12,000 boxes of butter for the Arawa, •and 3000 crates of cheese for the Durham, and the value of this lot is over £lOO,OOO, a figure which gives some criterion of the importance of the dairy industry to Taranaki. The Corinna was to have taken 20,000 boxes of butter to be transhipped to the Hororata, but as that vessel is delayed the consignment will not be forwarded. Other cargoes which will be despatched from New Plymouth shortly for the Home market will include 7000 crates of cheese and 20,000 boxes of butter, to be loaded by the Kumara, which is due at New Plymouth from Newcastle about Tuesday. Transhipments will also be sent to the Somerset (8000 crates of cheese) and Opawa (4000 crates of cheese).
