In connection with the coal-mining trouble it is considered probable that the Premier, who ip due back- in Web lington to-morrow, will be given a further opportunity of securing a settlement between the parties before the miners abandon the go-slow policy in favor of more drastic action. A MISTE CLOSED. CONGESTION OF COAL Greymouth, Last Night. Recently the Government decided to close the railway bridge from Brunner to the Brunner mine, and as a result the bins are overflowing as they are now holding 600 tons of coal, and the Brunner coal mine was compelled io close down last night. The company is prepared to haul coal across the bridge without danger to anyone, but the Railway Department will not permit it. Twenty men are idle. Mr. Holland, M.P., wired the Minister of Railways on the matter on Monday, and again last evening, but has received no reply. POSITION AT KAITANGATA Dunedin, Jan. 27. The position at Kaitangata is unchanged. Six* men, who refused to attend the stop-work meetings, are still working, and the others remaining idle. The whole matter has new been referred by the union to the federation, who will take the next step.
