On Friday Webster Bros, advertise they are selling a big consignment of 1000 boxes of choice assorted fresh fruits. One of the hardest tasks ever taken on by a trainer of animals was the tuition of the five mountain sheep used by Morriss in (his act with the St. Leon’s Circus. These sheep copie from the vicinity of the Alps, in France and, unlike the wool-givers of this country, they are more likely to butt you into the middle of next week than allow you to approach them, safely. Training a wild animal — a man-eater-—is easy compared to the task of teaching these tricksters. With a lion, you have to be on your guard. You expect nothing more than an uncomfortable bump from the sheep but more often than not it comes when you’re off guard, and in the case of Morriss’ first experience it sent him about on crutches for several weeks. Used to climbing almost inaccessible regions of the French Alps, these sheep did not at first take kindly to the flat surface of the circus ring but they had found a master in Morriss, who had so successfully taught these animals that they have become almost human in their actions. At one word from their trainer they will accomplish really marvellous feats. Morriss found the key to success, in teaching them, was really to rely on the thick-headed manner in which a whole flock will follow the antics of one, He thereupon concentrated on one, and found that the remainder readily followed him in the most ridiculous feats. AFTER A LONG RUN examine your tyres, and your verdict will be one of pleasivable satisfaction if your car is equipped with SPENCER MOULTON TYRES. Pleasure in the comfort they have yielded on bad roads, and the safety they have assured you. Procurable from your garage, or box 255,
