TARANAKI TOURNAMENT,

SECOND DAY'S PLAY. The Taranaki Bowling Centre’s tournament was continued yesterday on the New Plymouth, Fitzroy and West End greens, in dull but fine weather. •Splendid play was witnessed, many of the games not being decided until the last bowl bad been delivered. Indications point to a very keen struggle for supremacy. In Section A, H. Smart maintained his lead, whilst Mason was defeated by Moffatt, of St. John’s, by a narrow margin. Billing (West End), J. D. Sole (West End), Price (Fitzroy), McNeil (Fitzroy), and Higgs (Fitzroy) are also unbeaten in these sections so far, whilst in Section D the leaders, Ford (Waitara) and Fookes (Taihape), have each been defeated once. The pairs competition was won by Potter and Grenfell (Wellington) after the final bout with Noble and Sexton (Newtown). A start was made with the championship singles and five rounds were played. The contest will be continued tomorrow, and the tohrney will conclude on Thursday. The following are left in the championship singles contest semi-finals: — With two lives: Jury (Karangahake), Kershaw (Hataitai), Graham.
